A unified platform for a diversified offering
Expanding its global network of local partnerships to enable payment service providers and their e-commerce customers to accept local payment methods, PPRO’s previous collaboration solution came up against its limits. Based on an on-prem infrastructure, it was too expensive, too unstable and required too much workforce for the administration. In 2018, PPRO set out to find a new setup that meets the requirements of a globally active and cloud-native enterprise:
- Scalability: to prepare for future acquisitions and/or divestments, PPRO needed an infrastructure for its collaboration solution that not only scales automatically, but also simplifies the onboarding process for new employees.
- Flexibility: the previous on-prem solution fell short in terms of both stability and cost-effectiveness. Thus, the new solution would have to include a flexible, attractive pricing.
- Security: regulated in the UK by the FCA and in Luxembourg by the CSSF, PPRO has to comply with industry-specific and locally diversified regulations that set the benchmark for security and privacy options the deployed collaboration solution has to feature.

A cloud-native solution for a soon cloud-native company
After a smooth migration from the previous on-prem solution to Google Workspace, PPRO joined forces with Google Cloud Premier Partner Wabion to optimize its new Google Workspace environment. Refining and specifying Google’s best practices for the particular needs of every customer, Wabion has successfully assisted companies such as Delivery Hero, Kaeser Kompressoren, Conrad before, during and after their migration to Google Workspace.
Wabion’s tailor-made method for Google Workspace migration: The right mix of project management competence, technical expertise and change management know-how is crucial for a successful Google Workspace migration. A series of Summer Webinars including Google Workspace Basics, Google Workspace Extended and Google Workspace Security helped the PPRO staff to get familiar with their new work tools within Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Meet, Google Drive etc.) and establish a new culture of collaboration.
A partnership that pays off
When PPRO announced the acquisition of Latin American payments provider allpago to create the world’s leading local payments infrastructure in the summer of 2019, Wabion led the successful merger of PPRO’s and allpago’s separate Google Workspace environments into a group-wide collaboration platform. Building on its broad experience from similar projects migrating thousands of users and terabytes of Data, Wabion had already guided PPRO through the Google Workspace related carve-out of a company that had been divested.
Today, Google Workspace is a central pillar of PPRO’s IT infrastructure and working culture. Whenever needed, Wabion assists PPRO with ad-hoc support, training for new employees or technical workshops such as the Google Workspace Security Assessment that Wabion has conducted a couple of times with and for PPRO.
Wabion has continuously refined the Google Workspace Security Assessment initiated by Google in 2016. This one to two-day workshop is targeted at Google Workspace administrators, data protection officers and chief information security officers to help them bring their Google Workspace environment up to date in terms of security during every stage of their cloud journey.
