Secure meetings with Google Meet
Like all other Google Cloud products, Google Meet has built-in security settings and protection features. As a videoconferencing tool and being part of G Suite, Google Meet uses the reliable Google network which also protects your information and your privacy.
- Your data will not be used for advertising purposes or resold to third parties.
- All data in a meet are transmitted encrypted between Google and the user according to the IETF standard. However, if you dial in by phone, the encryption is in the hands of the network operator and cannot be guaranteed by Google.
- Google Meet has various measures to keep unwanted participants away. Meeting codes are complex to avoid accidental hits, but above all, only users within the organizer domain or with an explicit calendar invitation can automatically join the videoconference. Everyone else must request access to participate. In addition, it does not require any plugin to use Google Meet in common browsers, which also significantly reduces the attack surface. The use of the Google Meet app is recommended on mobile devices.
Whether Meet or the complete G Suite: Different combinations of 2-factor authentication are available to every Google user to protect their account.
All Google Cloud products are subjected to regular controls and audits and checked for data protection compliance. You can find the list of all certifications here.
