Magazine Special: Wabion among the Growth Champions of 2016
The news magazine Focus has conducted an investigation to find Germany’s enterprise with the highest sales growth. Wabion was was named one of 2016’s Growth Champions and scored 7th place in the “IT, Internet, Software and Services” category.
Michael Walther, Managing Director at Wabion, said the following about the fantastic result: “We are more than pleased about this distinction. It shows that even small companies have the chance to be named and recognised as part of such a study.”
The Focus special “Growth Champions 2016” presented a list of 500 German companies with the highest sales growths — subdivided into industries and average annual increase in sales.
Ulrich Reitz, chief editor at Focus: “Germany finds itself in an enviable position. We’re seeing incredible growth here: an increase of 1.7 per cent in 2016 as well as in 2017. The 500 Growth Champions have demonstrated how much creativity, entrepreneurial spirit and passion for innovation can be found in Germany.”
The list came to be as part of a collaboration with the statistics company Statista. It contains 500 businesses that had achieved particularly high growth in sales between 2011 and 2014. Privately as well as publicly owned companies were considered. The requirements were that they acted independently, weren’t subsidiaries, had their seat in Germany and could produce proof of at least €100,000 in revenue for the year 2011, as well as 1.8 million euro or more for the year 2014. The companies were invited to apply for the Growth Champions 2016 award. All companies that made it onto the Focus list received the “Growth Champion 2016” distinction.
The Focus special “Growth Champions 2016” presents these excellent enterprises as well as what exactly it is that they are doing right. A 162-page-long special issue on the topic was released on 17 November 2015.
